YoYo Reviews:

Below are real reviews of popular yoyos from real players - like you...!

They remain unedited, straight form the author - I hope they are helpful.

HSPIN Pyro

Pyro A smaller sized yoyo from the creators of the G&E line of yoyos.

This yoyo has to be one of the best out of the box players I've used, but a quick clean of the bearing won't do any damage. Has a great finish for grinding and Hspin have redesigned the thumb rings for better, longer thumb grinds.

It's a wider then most yoyos, but this makes for one very stable yoyo and the width is easy to get used to.

Can be a hard yoyo to get hold of due to its limited production runs, but well worth adding to your collection if you've got the $$.

PhatYo Trick Assassin

This puppy certainly is something different, slimmer fh2-ish shape, with internal weight ball bearings and external weight ring help in by convex caps, making this a hefty 68-70grams.

But with the option of removing some of the balls, different width of spacers and reversible rubber response cookies (one side with inverted starburst and the other with teeth) make this one customizable player.

One of the best part of this yoyo is the bearing technology. It uses a small Spintastics size bearing with a concaved plastic sleeve about the size of a YoYo Jam bearing, which makes for long spin and great smooth play. A great player in my honest opinion.

YoYoJam Hitman

Designed by former world YoYo chamion, Johnnie DelValle and manufactured by YoYoJam, the Hitman created waves in the yo-yoing world upon its release in 2003.

Designed with the intent of long spin times and incredibly stable grinds (Johnnies signature move), the Hitmans bi-metal body is perfectly rim weighted, wide and smaller in diameter than most conventional yoyos to allow easy maneuvering through intricate string formations.

Sporting double yo-ring response and yoyojams large bearing design, the response for this yoyo can be entirely customized to suit any players style. This yoyo has helped players around the globe win countless competitions and innovate amazing new styles of play. You don't wanna miss out on this one.

YoYoFactory FAST201

A nice beginners yoyo or for someone who like to have to mod a yoyo a lot before it’s a solid player.

The yoyo comes with a starburst like response which actually can be pushed back into the yoyo; all these loose parts make for one very loud yoyo. Shaped very much like a Freehand Zero, but just a little thinner.

YoYoJam Mini Mo-Tu

Ok here's a little review on a yo-yo much loved by me, the Mini mo-tu. Right from the time a got this yo-yo I loved the shape, size and weight. It fits nicely into the hand and I find that the weight of 62 grams makes it a perfectly balanced yo-yo. This might seem like I'm over hyping it, but basically I love small yo-yos that have a sweet look. And let me tell you this now, the large rims on this yo-yo look hot!

You may think that because of its small size it doesn't live up to other full sized yo-yos…you are wrong. The Mini mo-tu easily keeps up to other yo-yos and is personally one of my favorites. I haven't moded my Mini mo-tu do dramatically all I did was replace the stock o-rings with silicon and I cleaned the bearing. These two adjustments together make a sweet combo. The silicon lowers response but binds nice and tight making clean as throws and the clean bearing increases spin time and lowers response more.

I can honestly say I have no regrets in ever buying this yo-yo, and never will. Although if you do like larger yo-yos I don't think its such a good idea. But if you're looking for something different or something smaller add this yo-yo to your case; I think it will be very welcome.

Oxygene Oxy3

Beautiful looking, beautiful playing, well worth the $$$ if you can get them together.

Can be quite a heavy yoyo, but its extremely smooth playing will compensate for that – and if it’s still too heavy, do some weights!! Uses double oring response and has a large bearing which runs very unresponsive out of the box.

Designed to be the ultimate 1A player, one of the greatest things to come out of Italy.

YoYoJam Speeder

Ok this here is a review on the speeder designed by Hiroyuki Suzuki (world champion 04 and 05)

The speeder uses a hybrid response system, meaning one side of the yo-yos response is o-ring and the other side is starburst. I found the hybrid system in the speeder to be a great response system. Although I found if you don't replace the o-ring with silicon it gets a bit on the responsive side and the binds can screw up a little bit.

The speeder is a great shape; it's a slightly slim-lined butterfly shape and as its name states it does seem to spin very fast. It's very smooth on the on string and I find it great for suicides and fast 1a play.

I think if you're a fan of hybrid response you should give this yo-yo a try, but if your dead set on having double o-ring response maybe this yo-yo isn't for you.

Duncan FreeHand Zero

Zero Nice yoyo, I've never had the chance to play with the original Freehand - but this one is nice enough.

It comes packaged with 3 counterweights - a casino die, squishy ball (great for learning new 5A tricks or for a whole style of bounce tricks) and one of 6 character heads. Has more of a classic butterfly shape with rounder sides.

Comes with Duncan Friction Stickers as the stock response, but this can be replaced with any other form of sticker response - I use one Difpad and a cleaned bearing for minimum response.

With the addition of Throw Down snap-in weight rings this yoyo become much heavier and spins longer - said to also allow thumb grinds, but it will really scratch up your nails.

YoYoJam Spinfaktor HG (Heavy Gravity)

I'm not sure what to say about this yoyo except that it rocks.

It's slightly undersize, not too wide, a little light, and very flingy. It sports yyj's Hybrid response system which you either love or hate.

If you follow suit like most of the yoyoscene remove the Oring squirt in some silicone clean the bearing the yoyo takes on a totally different feel. It spins for an insanely long time, and the black HG material makes grinds fun.

This yoyo plays so well it's like a datsun with 300hp in it. You except it to play like nearly every other plastic yoyo, then bam, starts playing like a highend yyj. Everytime I pick up my HG I'm blown away by the punch it packs

BuzzOn Nemesis

Designed by former world spin top champion, THP member and all around good guy, Dave Bazan.

The Nemesis is a serious player and is seriously quick on the string.

Perfectly suited to 1A, 3A or 5A styles of play, this yoyo is butterfly shape, features the unique Buzz-on SPR bearing system (available in 3 bearing sizes) which allows the player inter-changeability between response/bearing configurations and aluminium weight rings large enough to kick this yoyo into gear for some ultra long sleep time, yet slender enough to not sacrifice this yoyos ability to cut through the air with the greatest of ease.

This is the perfect all-rounder for any yoyo collection.

Duncan Flying Squirrel

This is one rad yo for its buck! Comes stock with two duncan stickers laid over starburst, to give more options to you, the player.

This is one rad mammal indeed, Smallish shape but by no means a mini yoyo. Its smooth on the string, nice 66 grams, and suicides great due to the starburst/sticker combo.

The only down fall is that when the starburst start to wear in the string can fall between the spacer and the bearing, but alittle bit of sanding on the back of the spacer fixes it a charm.
